When Diet and Exercise Aren't Enough

So you work out, you eat healthy foods and still can't seem to keep the extra weight off -- at least not without practically killing yourself in the gym. Well, there's another factor that has now come in to play - you're aging. As you age, obviously things don't always function like they used to. Functions tend to slow down, especially your metabolism. In addition, every person's weight has a natural ‘set point' that usually shifts upward with age. While we can override that set point and lose a significant amount of weight through various means, our bodies will automatically seek out the preexisting weight level once the dieting has stopped. Of course, the first rule to avoid this is to maintain a healthy diet as opposed to sporadic crash dieting. However, even with a healthy regimen and regular exercise, most of us still have a hard time keeping off the weight.
